This is central to a Firewise lot: we reduce fuels through the defensible zones to Yavapai and Firewise guidelines, clear the heavy manzanita and ladder fuels, and chip or haul the slash.
Wildwood Estates runs off Iron Springs Road on the west side of Prescott, a wooded neighborhood minutes from downtown but set in the pines against the National Forest. It carries a registered Firewise designation, framed by ponderosa, scrub oak, pinion, manzanita, and alligator juniper, with Granite Mountain standing over it to the north.
The ground is granite and decomposed granite under a mixed pine and brush canopy, with boulders and shallow rock through most of the neighborhood.
