Ponds done right in Antelope Hills
We site the pond where the ground and the water make sense, excavate and shape it with the right slopes, key in and seal the basin so it holds, and build the berm and spillway to handle overflow safely.
A shaped, sealed pond or stock tank that holds water, drains its overflow safely, and fits the way you use the land.

There is little natural fall to work with out here, so a pond or water feature gets keyed and sealed into the DG and given a bermed spillway, or it drains itself dry by August.
Antelope Hills sits up near the Highway 89 and 89A junction on Prescott's north side. It is one of the flatter, more open pockets of ground in the area, but flat and open here does not mean the ground is soft. The lots sit on decomposed granite that shifts to rock shelf without much warning.
Under the DG you hit granite that a homeowner-grade machine will just skate across, and the grades run gentle enough that water does not leave on its own. On ground this flat the drainage has to be built in, because where the water sits and where it moves matters on every pad and drive.
Build a pad that traps water on ground this flat and you are the low spot the whole area drains toward. A licensed contractor who reads the grade and drains the site right keeps that water off your slab instead of under it.
