Ponds done right in Poquito Valley
We site the pond where the ground and the water make sense, excavate and shape it with the right slopes, key in and seal the basin so it holds, and build the berm and spillway to handle overflow safely.
A shaped, sealed pond or stock tank that holds water, drains its overflow safely, and fits the way you use the land.

A stock tank makes sense on acreage running horses, so we site it, shape stable slopes, and key and seal the basin so it actually holds through the dry stretch.
Poquito Valley runs through the Coyote Springs corridor on the north edge of Prescott Valley, where the county thins out into rural acreage and horse property. Lots here are big and mostly unimproved, so what you buy is raw ground that has to be shaped before anything gets built on it. This is do-it-yourself country, and the person you hire has to bring the whole site up from dirt.
The ground is high desert grassland over decomposed granite, with caliche seams and scattered granite that show up once you dig. Grades are gentle across most of the corridor, but that flatness means water has nowhere natural to go, so ponding and sheet flow have to be engineered off the building envelope. Access is off dirt county roads, and a fresh site usually needs a drive cut before a machine can even reach the pad.
Out here you are your own developer, with no production builder smoothing the path and no city crew fixing the road when it washes. A licensed contractor who sets the pad, drive, and drainage right the first time is the difference between a finished home and a lot that fights you every monsoon.
